New year’s resolutions

As you probably know, Chris Hadfield made history in 2013 when he became the first Canadian astronaut to act as commander of the Internation Space Station. I have great respect for him and what he has accomplished and couldn’t help sharing this video. Enjoy!

As we prepare for the new year and the second half of our course, I’d like you to reflect on this video. What are you planning to do differently this year? Add a comment to let us know!

Wow, this is so inspiring 🙂 It really shows that if you push yourself it can open up more doors and you will be rewarded with different successes in the end. Achieving even our minor goals can make a big change in our lives.

Like Amy said, very inspiring. It definitely encourages me to pursue all I want and to not give up on the littlest goals! 🙂

I would push myself harder to achieve my goals and try to do other subjects or jobs that might interest me if i can’t be what i want to be.

I absolutely love this video. It is surely inspiring. It’s a reminder of how even the little things matter, because eventually they will build up, in relation to goals and to anything you do basically. Of course there will be ups and downs in your path, but it’s okay. Even when it gets too hard, you must accept it. Acceptance is key.

For this new year, for this course, I plan on doing extra practices from the textbook. I believe this will help me out a lot. Practice makes perfect. 🙂

I love what he says about making small choices (“what food you eat, books you read, what you do in your spare time”), as they really do shape you into the individual you want to be. It absolutely starts with these small things, and as he said, after time, “you literally change yourself into the person you want to become.” This made me realize what decisions I took and how they truly affected me. On New Years, I realized I had been vegan for already a whole year, and that all started with a simple choice: “what food do I want to put in my mouth?” It’s amazing to see the changes in your life, looking back on the choices you’ve made. For instance, I’ve chosen to use my spare time wisely and learn languages and how to play the piano, which has really made an impact. I can’t wait to continue on with these choices, especially as I will have to make many important choices very soon in regards to college and my future career.

I think that this video was so motivational. I’m glad that he also spoke of the mistakes that make us grow, because our great experiences are not the only things that help us grow. I am more motivated this year to procrastinate less and to focus a lot more on my studies. I want to believe that I can achieve my dreams.

I have often found that people aim for goals lower than those they can achieve. Why they would do so if beyond my comprehension. As this video illustrates with perfect clarity, the journey towards your goals is a rewarding as achieving the goals themselves. Aim for the very highest goals, the journey towards them will be full of wonderful experiences. Perhaps you will not reach your ultimate goal, but you may have found something with which you are content on the journey there.

My goal this year was to be more healthier , I’ve been sick a lot this past two years and I found out that i am Gluten intolerant so that will be a big change but I know that by giving up gluten i will feel a lot bettter and be a lot healthier , also another goal was that for whatever I do I will give it all I got and try my best, because whatever you put your mind to , you will achieve it !

For me, Chris Hadfield has always been a very inspiring person. I find that he’s just a great speaker in general, this video was particularly motivational. I’m always striving to achieve higher goals and push myself further. It’s not the first time I watch this but it was nonetheless helpful, the tips are great. Sometimes all I need is a little extra push, and re-watching this video can help for sure!

This year I’m not necessarily planning to change anything major, I don’t really believe in New Years resolutions. I think that regardless of the date, we should always try to improve, always set ourselves new goals and resolutions as the days advance. One thing that I do need to work on however is being more attentive during the video lessons, I want to try and limit the distractions a little more than in the past.

One thing that i am going to change this year is my organization and procrastination. I’ve decided that i need to be more organized and go my assignements or homework as soon as i can. This will give me more time to actually do the work right and take my time wether than rush trough. i think it will make me more successful.

this video was really good to see someone work this hard to get where he is and never stop believing in his goal was really inspiring to see. When you really listen to what hes saying you really do see that, success is only really measured by the amount of effort you are willing to put.I will try put as much effort in everything do.

Sometimes life gets in the way and stops us and I think this video is trying to stay that no matter how much stuff we go through we can succeed. You can be hoever you want but you have to be the one that changes. Someone else one said sometimes you have to count the little things more than the big things. This really inspired me to go after my dreams. My resolution is to trust and follow my heart and work harder than ever before. Because now is the time to run race that I have been training for my entire life. And with that I challenge you to be the bets you, you can be!

This video was very inspiring, Chris worked very hard to achieve his dreams, and I plan on working as hard to achieve mine. this year, since it is my last year of high school, I plan of working hard to get good grades and to have fun while doing so to make the most out of this last year! I will try to put more effort in my school work to achieve the goals I have set for myself.

This was quite the inspiring video. Show you that you can change the world and make you make memorized in the the history books. To think that your children’s childrens with think of your name as an honorable memory its just fascinating. Its not easy to be remembered as a human but Hatfield shows that its possible in this video.

    • Feno on January 6, 2016 at 10:32 am

The vid was extremely motivational, especially since I am working towards the same goal. It’s really inspiring to see how he made it regardless of all the problems and difficulties he faced. This changed my view on how I am living each day. Instead of just waiting for the ultimate goal, I will try achieving things each day, and if I don’t make it, I’ll be content with where I am.

    • Tyler on January 6, 2016 at 10:34 am

This video was really inspirational and cool to see how even though Chris new that he might not make it to his final goal as an astronaut he can still enjoy the journey, the people he met and the experiences he experienced. I feel like this video has started to change my perspective on life and the goals I wish to accomplish, in a way that allows me to enjoy life more. I feel like now I should be doing the things I enjoy not because I have to but because I want to.
